Theme: Daily Scripture
“For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the spoilers have laid them waste, and have marred their vine branches.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Nahum 2:2: “For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the spoilers have laid them waste, and have marred their vine branches.”
In Nahum, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Nahum 2:2 remain. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Nahum 2:2, let “For the Lord hath rendered the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: because the…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
