Theme: Family
“And it shall be in that day, saith the Lord: That she shall call me: My husband, and she shall call me no more Baali.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Hosea 2:16: “And it shall be in that day, saith the Lord: That she shall call me: My husband, and she shall call me no more Baali.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. In Hosea, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Hosea 2:16 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Hosea 2:16 I hear, “And it shall be in that day, saith the Lord: That she shall call me: My husband, and…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
