Theme: Daily Scripture
“And Athersatha said to them, that they should not eat of the holy of holies, till there arose a priest learned and perfect.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Ezra 2:63: “And Athersatha said to them, that they should not eat of the holy of holies, till there arose a priest learned and perfect.”
Ezra is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Ezra 2:63 close to me. Let “And Athersatha said to them, that they should not eat of the holy of holies, till…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
