Theme: Daily Scripture
“And behold, he came out of Bethlehem, and said to the reapers: The Lord be with you. And they answered him: The Lord bless thee.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Ruth 2:4: “And behold, he came out of Bethlehem, and said to the reapers: The Lord be with you. And they answered him: The Lord bless thee.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Ruth is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Ruth 2:4. As I listen to “And behold, he came out of Bethlehem, and said to the reapers: The Lord be with you.…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
