Theme: Work & Service

PrayerWork & Service

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10

Reflection for Today

Pause with Galatians 1:10. Hear these words again: “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Galatians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Galatians 1:10, let “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men,…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
