Catholic Verse of the Day

John 1:41

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

He findeth first his brother Simon and saith to him: We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

John 1:41

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us John 1:41: “He findeth first his brother Simon and saith to him: We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.”

The Church treasures John because the Gospel is the face of Christ in human language, meant to be heard with faith. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of John 1:41 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from John 1:41. As I listen to “He findeth first his brother Simon and saith to him: We have found the Messias,…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
