Theme: Salvation
“And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall save his people from their sins.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Matthew 1:21: “And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall save his people from their sins.”
Matthew does not give us a distant memory of Jesus. It places us in His company, where every word can become prayer. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Matthew 1:21 remain. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Matthew 1:21. You said, “And she shall bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Jesus. For he shall…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
