Theme: Family
“She said to them: Go ye home to your mothers, the Lord deal mercifully with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Ruth 1:8: “She said to them: Go ye home to your mothers, the Lord deal mercifully with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Ruth is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Ruth 1:8, let “She said to them: Go ye home to your mothers, the Lord deal mercifully with you, as…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
