Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is Genesis 1:2: “And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the spirit of God moved over the waters.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Genesis is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Genesis 1:2 remain. Before the day runs away, sit with this verse for two quiet minutes. Say it slowly. Notice which word stays warm in the heart, and carry that word into one conversation.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Genesis 1:2, let “And the earth was void and empty, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
