The king, angered by the saint's departure, declared that he would punish any ship captain who brought St. Raymond back to Barcelona. Putting all his trust in God, he spread his cloak upon the water, tied up one corner of it to a stick for a sail, made the Sign of the Cross, and stepped onto the cloak. For six hours, he sailed across the sea until he reached Barcelona, a distance that would normally require a substantial vessel. This miraculous journey not only demonstrated God's power but also had a profound effect on King James, who was moved by the miracle and became a true follower of St. Raymond, repenting of his sinful behavior.
