About St. Michael's Lent

St. Michael's Lent is an ancient Catholic devotion associated with St. Francis of Assisi, who observed a period of intense prayer and fasting leading up to the Feast of St. Michael on September 29. Traditionally beginning on August 15 — the Feast of the Assumption — this season invites the faithful to spiritual combat against evil through penance, prayer, and devotion to the Prince of the Heavenly Hosts.

Each day of this novena includes the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, a litany of invocations, consecration to St. Michael, and prayers honoring St. Gabriel, St. Raphael, and your Guardian Angel. The same powerful prayer is offered each day, deepening your union with the archangels throughout the lenten season.

Also see our St. Michael's Lent prayer guide (US 2026), 9-Day St. Michael the Archangel Novena and Prayer to St. Michael for additional devotions.
