Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes – Day 6: Obedience

Join in praying the Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes to seek Mary's miraculous intercession and healing grace.

Today's Focus: Obedience

On this sixth day of the Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes, we pray for obedience - obedience to God's will, obedience to the Church, and obedience to Mary's requests. We ask Mary to help us follow God's plan for our lives with complete trust and surrender.

Prayer for Day 6

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Most Obedient Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, you appeared at Lourdes and asked St. Bernadette to dig in the ground and to pray for sinners. You showed us the importance of obedience to God's will and to your requests.

On this sixth day of our novena, we pray for the gift of obedience.Help us to be obedient to God's will and to follow His plan for our lives. Teach us to trust in God's wisdom and to surrender our own will to His divine will.

O Mary, you are the perfect example of obedience, for you said "yes" to God when the angel Gabriel appeared to you. You accepted God's will completely, even though it meant great suffering and sacrifice. Help us to imitate your obedience and to trust in God's plan.

We also pray for these intentions… (State your intentions here)

Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

Reflection for Today

Today we focus on obedience, a virtue that is essential for spiritual growth and for following God's will. Obedience is not about blind submission, but about trusting in God's wisdom and surrendering our own will to His divine plan.

St. Bernadette's obedience to Mary's requests was perfect. When Mary asked her to dig in the ground, even though it seemed strange and others mocked her, St. Bernadette obeyed without question. This obedience led to the miraculous spring at Lourdes.

Mary also asked St. Bernadette to pray for sinners and to do penance. St. Bernadette obeyed these requests as well, showing us that true obedience to God's will brings great blessings and can work miracles in our lives.

Mary herself is the perfect example of obedience. When the angel Gabriel appeared to her and told her that she would become the Mother of God, she said: "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word." She accepted God's will completely, even though it meant great suffering and sacrifice.

As we pray today, let us ask Mary to help us grow in obedience. Let us ask her to help us trust in God's plan for our lives and to surrender our own will to His divine will. Let us strive to be obedient like St. Bernadette and like Mary, always trusting in God's wisdom.

Closing Prayer

O Most Obedient Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, increase our obedience to God's will and help us to trust in His divine plan for our lives. Teach us to surrender our own will to His wisdom and to follow His guidance with complete trust. May our obedience make us more pleasing to God and help us to grow in holiness. Amen.
