Christmas Novena – Day 8: Holiness

Join in praying the Christmas Novena to prepare for the birth of our Savior.

Today's Focus: Holiness

On this eighth day of the Christmas Novena, we pray for holiness. You, Lord, are holy but we are not. We pray that you will make us holy and keep us from temptation this Christmas.

Prayer for Day 8

Join in praying the Christmas Novena

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord, Word of God, You, whose glory is complete, came to us in perfect humility as a child in the womb. Your love for us and Your humility are unsurpassed and bring us to our knees in prayer and worship.

Your incarnation forever changed the world.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

O Lord, infant Jesus, inspire us to be repulsed by sin! You, Lord, are holy but we are not. We pray that you will make us holy and keep us from temptation this Christmas.

We also pray for these intentions… (State your intentions here)

May Your Holy Will be done in my life and with these intentions.

We pray that the work of salvation that Your first coming began will reach fulfillment in each of us.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Reflection for Today

Today we pray for holiness as we continue our Christmas Novena. Jesus Christ is holy, but we are not. We are sinners in need of God's grace to become holy.

The incarnation of Jesus Christ shows us what true holiness looks like. Jesus, who is God, became man to show us the way to holiness and to make it possible for us to become holy through His grace.

As we pray today, let us ask God to help us be repulsed by sin and to desire holiness instead. Let us ask Him to make us holy and to keep us from temptation. This is not something we can do on our own, but only with God's grace and help.

Remember that holiness is not about being perfect, but about striving to be more like Jesus Christ. It is about turning away from sin and turning toward God. Let us ask God to help us in this journey toward holiness.

How to Make an Excellent Novena

Turn Away from Sin

Ask God to help you be repulsed by sin and to desire holiness instead. Make a conscious effort to avoid sin and to choose what is good.

Seek God's Grace

Remember that holiness is a gift from God. Ask Him for the grace you need to become more holy and to resist temptation.

Follow Jesus

Look to Jesus as your model of holiness. Study His life and teachings, and ask Him to help you become more like Him.

Pray for Protection

Ask God to protect you from temptation and to keep you on the path to holiness. Pray for the strength to resist sin and to choose what is good.

Closing Blessing

May the Lord inspire you to be repulsed by sin and to desire holiness as you continue this Christmas Novena. May He make you holy and keep you from temptation. May you grow in holiness and become more like Jesus Christ each day.
