Catechism in a Year

by Catholic Church

The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a comprehensive summary of what Catholics believe. These daily reflections guide you through key teachings, helping you understand and live your faith more deeply.

Man's Capacity for God

From the Catechism: "The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself. Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for." (CCC 27)

We are made for God. This is the fundamental truth about human existence. Every longing, every desire, every restless searching points to our ultimate destiny—union with God.

St. Augustine expressed this beautifully: "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you."

The world offers many substitutes for God—pleasure, power, possessions, prestige. But none of these can satisfy the infinite longing of the human heart. Only the Infinite can fill us.

This capacity for God is both our dignity and our responsibility. We are called to seek Him, to know Him, to love Him.

đź“– Scripture

Ecclesiastes 3:11 - "He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart."

🙏 Prayer

Lord, You have made me for Yourself. Fill the longing of my heart. Help me to seek You above all things and to find in You alone my true happiness. Amen.
