From Anxiety to Peace

by Catholic Bible Online

Anxiety affects millions of people, including many faithful Catholics. This devotional combines Scripture, the wisdom of the saints, and practical spiritual practices to help you find peace in Christ. Remember: seeking professional help for anxiety is also an act of faith.

Do Not Be Anxious

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)

Anxiety is not a sin, but it is an invitation to trust God more deeply. When worry grips our hearts, we are called to bring our concerns to God in prayer.

Notice that Paul says to pray "with thanksgiving." Even in anxiety, we can thank God for His past faithfulness, His present love, and His promised future care.

The result is "the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding." This peace doesn't depend on our circumstances changing. It guards our hearts even when problems remain.

St. Padre Pio said: "Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer."

📖 Scripture

Philippians 4:6-7 - "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
