Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?

Sirach 25:15

Reflection for Today

Let Sirach 25:15 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it, to whom shall he be likened?”

Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. Many of us carry quiet fear into work, family, and prayer. This verse does not shame that fear. It invites us to bring it into the light of God.

As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.

Prayer

Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from Sirach 25:15. As I listen to “Blessed is the man, to whom it is given to have the fear of God: he that holdeth it,…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
