Theme: Light of the World
“Having the glory of God, and the light thereof was like to a precious stone, as to the jasper stone even as crystal.”
Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Revelation 21:11: “Having the glory of God, and the light thereof was like to a precious stone, as to the jasper stone even as crystal.”
Revelation is often treated as a puzzle of fear. Catholic faith reads it as a book of worship and hope: the Lamb reigns, and history is not abandoned. The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Revelation 21:11. You said, “Having the glory of God, and the light thereof was like to a precious stone, as to…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
