Theme: Daily Scripture
“And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with John 21:19. Hear these words again: “And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had said this, he saith to him: Follow me.”
The Church treasures John because the Gospel is the face of Christ in human language, meant to be heard with faith. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In John 21:19 I hear, “And this he said, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
