Catholic Verse of the Day

Isaiah 21:16

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, January 31, 2029, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

For thus saith the Lord to me: Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Cedar shall be taken away.

Isaiah 21:16

Reflection for Today

The Church sets before us Isaiah 21:16: “For thus saith the Lord to me: Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, all the glory of Cedar shall be taken away.”

A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. In Isaiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If possible, bring this line to Mass or to a brief visit before the Blessed Sacrament. Let Christ finish in silence what the verse began in your thoughts.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Isaiah 21:16. You said, “For thus saith the Lord to me: Within a year, according to the years of a hireling,…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
