Pause with 1 Kings 21:3. Hear these words again: “Naboth answered him: The Lord be merciful to me, and not let me give thee the inheritance of my fathers.”
The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. 1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
