Theme: Daily Scripture
“That innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess, lest thou be guilty of blood.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Deuteronomy 19:10. Hear these words again: “That innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord thy God will give thee to possess, lest thou be guilty of blood.”
Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Deuteronomy 19:10 remain. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Deuteronomy 19:10, let “That innocent blood may not be shed in the midst of the land which the Lord thy God…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
