Theme: Mercy

Forgiveness & MercyHealing

Before sickness take a medicine, and before judgment examine thyself, and thou shalt find mercy in the sight of God.

Sirach 18:20

Reflection for Today

Let Sirach 18:20 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Before sickness take a medicine, and before judgment examine thyself, and thou shalt find mercy in the sight of God.”

Sirach belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.

Today's invitation under the theme of Mercy is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Sirach 18:20 I hear, “Before sickness take a medicine, and before judgment examine thyself, and thou shalt…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
