“And the other Eliezer: For the God of my father, said he, is my helper, and hath delivered me from the sword of Pharao.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is Exodus 18:4: “And the other Eliezer: For the God of my father, said he, is my helper, and hath delivered me from the sword of Pharao.”
Exodus is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for speaking through Exodus 18:4. You said, “And the other Eliezer: For the God of my father, said he, is my helper, and hath…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
