Catholic Verse of the Day

Job 17:1

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Monday, October 16, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit

My spirit shall be wasted, my days shall be shortened and only the grave remaineth for me.

Job 17:1

Reflection for Today

Pause with Job 17:1. Hear these words again: “My spirit shall be wasted, my days shall be shortened and only the grave remaineth for me.”

The Catholic way of reading is never solitary for long. We read with the Church, with the saints, and with the poor Christ still loves. Job belongs to the wisdom books, where faith meets daily decisions. Holiness is not only for extraordinary moments; it is learned in ordinary choices.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Job 17:1 remain. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through Job 17:1, let “My spirit shall be wasted, my days shall be shortened and only the grave remaineth…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
