Theme: Daily Scripture
“And the king answering, said to the woman: Hide not from me the thing that I ask thee. And the woman said to him: Speak, my lord the king.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Samuel 14:18. Hear these words again: “And the king answering, said to the woman: Hide not from me the thing that I ask thee. And the woman said to him: Speak, my lord the king.”
2 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Read in Catholic faith, this is not a decorative sentence for social media. It is a living word meant to convert, console, and send us back into ordinary life with a quieter heart.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 2 Samuel 14:18 I hear, “And the king answering, said to the woman: Hide not from me the thing that I ask…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
