Catholic Verse of the Day

1 Samuel 13:9

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, May 21, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Peace

Peace

Then Saul said: Bring me the holocaust, and the peace offerings. And he offered the holocaust.

1 Samuel 13:9

Reflection for Today

Pause with 1 Samuel 13:9. Hear these words again: “Then Saul said: Bring me the holocaust, and the peace offerings. And he offered the holocaust.”

1 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Many of us carry quiet fear into work, family, and prayer. This verse does not shame that fear. It invites us to bring it into the light of God.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through 1 Samuel 13:9. You said, “Then Saul said: Bring me the holocaust, and the peace offerings. And he offered the…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
