Theme: Family
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod. And her son was taken up to God and to his throne.”
Reflection for Today
Let Revelation 12:5 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod. And her son was taken up to God and to his throne.”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Revelation is often treated as a puzzle of fear. Catholic faith reads it as a book of worship and hope: the Lamb reigns, and history is not abandoned.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Pray a decade of the Rosary with this verse in mind. Ask Mary to teach you how to keep God's word and ponder it, as she did.
Prayer
Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Revelation 12:5 I hear, “And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod. And…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
