Catholic Verse of the Day

2 Corinthians 12:19

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Thursday, May 11, 2028, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: God's Love

Love

Of old, think you that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ: but all things, my dearly beloved, for your edification.

2 Corinthians 12:19

Reflection for Today

Let 2 Corinthians 12:19 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “Of old, think you that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ: but all things, my dearly beloved, for your edification.”

If this verse speaks of love, it invites a question that is quietly demanding: whom am I being asked to love more concretely today? 2 Corinthians comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 2 Corinthians 12:19 remain. Choose one person who is difficult to love and offer them a concrete kindness today, even if it is only a patient reply.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In 2 Corinthians 12:19 I hear, “Of old, think you that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ:…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
