Theme: Daily Scripture
“I know, O Lord, that the way of a man is not his: neither is it in a man to walk, and to direct his steps.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with Jeremiah 10:23. Hear these words again: “I know, O Lord, that the way of a man is not his: neither is it in a man to walk, and to direct his steps.”
In Jeremiah, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Jeremiah 10:23 close to me. Let “I know, O Lord, that the way of a man is not his: neither is it in a man to walk,…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
