Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Chronicles 9:23. Hear these words again: “And all the kings of the earth desired to see the face of Solomon, that they might hear the wisdom which God had given in his heart.”
2 Chronicles is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. A wise Catholic heart listens twice: once to Scripture, and once to the quiet prompting of conscience formed by the Church.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep 2 Chronicles 9:23 close to me. Let “And all the kings of the earth desired to see the face of Solomon, that they might…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
