Reflection for Today
The Church sets before us Esther 8:12: “And one day of revenge was appointed through all the provinces, to wit, the thirteenth of the twelfth month Adar.”
A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings. Esther, received in the Catholic canon, shows courage, fidelity, and providence when God's people are tested.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Esther 8:12 close to me. Let “And one day of revenge was appointed through all the provinces, to wit, the…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
