“And the king talked with Giezi, the servant of the man of God, saying: Tell me all the great things that Eliseus hath done.”
Reflection for Today
Pause with 2 Kings 8:4. Hear these words again: “And the king talked with Giezi, the servant of the man of God, saying: Tell me all the great things that Eliseus hath done.”
2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth.
God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 2 Kings 8:4, let “And the king talked with Giezi, the servant of the man of God, saying: Tell me all…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
