Catholic Verse of the Day

2 Samuel 8:3

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Sunday, October 24, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

David defeated also Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba, when he went to extend his dominion over the river Euphrates.

2 Samuel 8:3

Reflection for Today

Let 2 Samuel 8:3 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “David defeated also Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba, when he went to extend his dominion over the river Euphrates.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 2 Samuel is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

Today's invitation under the theme of Daily Scripture is simple and serious. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 2 Samuel 8:3, let “David defeated also Adarezer the son of Rohob king of Soba, when he went to extend…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
