Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Wednesday, October 20, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Gratitude

Gratitude

That when thou hast eaten, and art full, thou mayst bless the Lord thy God for the excellent land which he hath given thee.

Deuteronomy 8:10

Reflection for Today

Let Deuteronomy 8:10 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “That when thou hast eaten, and art full, thou mayst bless the Lord thy God for the excellent land which he hath given thee.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Deuteronomy 8:10 remain. If the verse convicts you, do not panic. Take it to Confession when you can, or begin with an honest Act of Contrition tonight.

Prayer

Lord God, thank You for speaking through Deuteronomy 8:10. You said, “That when thou hast eaten, and art full, thou mayst bless the Lord thy God for the…” I do not want to rush past these words. Quiet my mind, warm my heart, and help me live what I have heard with faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
