Theme: Daily Scripture
“Now there were four lepers, at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another: What mean we to stay here till we die?”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is 2 Kings 7:3: “Now there were four lepers, at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another: What mean we to stay here till we die?”
Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 2 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 2 Kings 7:3 remain. Share this verse with someone who needs encouragement, not as advice from above, but as a gift you yourself are trying to live.
Prayer
Father of mercies, I bring You this day and this verse from 2 Kings 7:3. As I listen to “Now there were four lepers, at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to…,” heal what is anxious in me, correct what is proud, and strengthen what is willing to love. Amen.
