Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Tuesday, May 25, 2027, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for he shall not be unpunished that taketh his name upon a vain thing.

Deuteronomy 5:11

Reflection for Today

Today's Catholic verse of the day is Deuteronomy 5:11: “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for he shall not be unpunished that taketh his name upon a vain thing.”

Deuteronomy is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.

God often changes us less by thunder and more by a line of Scripture that will not leave us alone. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.

Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit. Open the Scriptures to me as You opened them to the apostles. In Deuteronomy 5:11 I hear, “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for he shall not be…” Give me understanding, give me desire, and give me the grace to obey with joy. Amen.
