Theme: God's Love
“If then you fulfil the royal law, according to the scriptures: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself; you do well.”
Reflection for Today
Today's Catholic verse of the day is James 2:8: “If then you fulfil the royal law, according to the scriptures: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself; you do well.”
James comes from the apostolic age, when the first communities were learning how to live the Gospel in ordinary struggles. The Church still listens here for guidance. Love in Scripture is never only a feeling. It is a decision to will the good of another, even when it costs patience, time, or pride.
As you hold this verse, do not force a dramatic feeling. Ask only for faithfulness. Write one sentence of response in a notebook or phone note: what you hear God asking, promising, or healing. Then do one small act that matches that sentence.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep James 2:8 close to me. Let “If then you fulfil the royal law, according to the scriptures: Thou shalt love thy…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
