Theme: Daily Scripture
“And he said: Call his name, Not my people: for you are not my people, and I will not be yours.”
Reflection for Today
Let Hosea 1:9 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And he said: Call his name, Not my people: for you are not my people, and I will not be yours.”
In Hosea, the prophetic word unsettles comfort and awakens hope. God loves His people enough to call them back, and enough to promise a future. A single verse can meet us differently depending on the season we are in: grief, gratitude, fatigue, or new beginnings.
If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of Hosea 1:9 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.
Prayer
Holy Trinity, I receive today's verse with the Church. Keep Hosea 1:9 close to me. Let “And he said: Call his name, Not my people: for you are not my people, and I will not…” guard my thoughts from morning until night, and let my life quietly agree with Your word. Amen.
