1 Kings 1:48

Douay-Rheims Catholic Bible verse for Saturday, September 5, 2026, with reflection, prayer, and a link to the full chapter.

Theme: Daily Scripture

Gratitude

And he said: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who hath given this day one to sit on my throne, my eyes seeing it.

1 Kings 1:48

Reflection for Today

Let 1 Kings 1:48 speak first, before our plans and worries do: “And he said: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who hath given this day one to sit on my throne, my eyes seeing it.”

Scripture rarely flatters us. It loves us enough to tell the truth, and then it stays with us while we learn to live that truth. 1 Kings is part of the long story of salvation. Catholics receive it as inspired Scripture, a word that prepares the heart for Christ and still nourishes the Church.

If nothing else remains from this page, let one phrase of 1 Kings 1:48 remain. If the verse consoles you, do not rush past the comfort. Gratitude is also a form of obedience.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, Word made flesh, You still teach Your disciples through Sacred Scripture. Through 1 Kings 1:48, let “And he said: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who hath given this day one to…” become more than a memory. Make it light for my work, patience for my home, and courage for my vocation. Amen.
