1The Lord hath reigned, he is clothed with beauty: the Lord is clothed with strength, and hath girded himself. For he hath established the world which shall not be moved.

2My throne is prepared from of old: thou art from everlasting.

3The floods have lifted up, O Lord: the floods have lifted up their voice. The floods have lifted up their waves,

4With the noise of many waters. Wonderful are the surges of the sea: wonderful is the Lord on high.

5Thy testimonies are become exceedingly credible: holiness becometh thy house, O Lord, unto length of days.

Reflection for Today

Psalms Chapter 92 presents themes of prayer, praise, and the full range of human emotion before God that Catholic tradition has long cherished. the Psalms are the prayer book of the Church, prayed daily in the Liturgy of the Hours (CIC 2585-2589). The teaching that God invites us to bring all our emotions to Him remains as relevant today as when first written.

The Church reads Scripture within the context of the liturgy, where the Word of God is proclaimed and celebrated. The Catechism teaches that "in the liturgy, God speaks to his people and Christ is still proclaiming his Gospel" (CIC 1088).
